Who Said You Aren’t Beautiful?

I have a friend who is a mother of three and an engineer. We grew up together, battled our respective weights together, experimented over what’s the best makeup together, cried through heartbreaks together. Recently, she said she is considering having some treatment done to her face. And mind you, she was not talking about some diamond peel or facial. She was talking about having some small surgery just so to look presentable in the meetings, she said. I was aghast. I was flabbergasted! Who ever said she did not look presentable?!?

you are beautifulI had to remind her that she is a mother of three, something not everyone can do. And because she has given birth and reared three wonderful human beings, it surely will reflect on her face. Ageing is a natural process and giving birth has certainly changed her body – three times. I had to ask who gave her any idea that she should change something about her, and she just replied that there was really no one, but she is considering it to look more attractive. I had to laugh at this one.

I told her I am sure that her two sons will marry somebody who resembles her, because she is their definition of the perfect girl. And her daughter would want to copy her every move, because she is her idol. I didn’t even mention that I still see her husband looking at her with the softest eyes. What else does she need?

At the end of our conversation, I simply asked her if she wanted to look younger than her daughter ten years henceforth. That one did it – and we laughed at the ridiculous idea away.
