What Does It Mean To Be An Apple Or A Pear?

I always have to giggle when I hear about apples and pears resembling the woman’s body; but oddly enough, many women can see that resemblance in terms of shape at least! My thighs are more like orange peel at times but that is another thing.

The apples in the fruit bowl have a rounder forms and therefore, benefit from clothing that is structured around the waist and stomach – think about pieces such as empire-waists if you want to have a more striking waist line.

If you have a low waist line then I recommend trying pieces, which create an a-line from the empire waist; very flattering. Risky pieces for apple shapes are shapeless clothes such as oversized jackets, which really won’t do any favors; better would be a structured jacket that goes over a nice empire waist dress.

Our pear-shaped bodies are usually classified by a smaller upper region and a more ‘endowed’ region below. If you resemble this shape then you should show off your form with fitted pieces for the upper part of your body and never try to hide your curves. Grecian style dresses are a classic example of an item that flatters the pear shape; it is fitted with a wrap at the top and gathered waist. The front of these dress drapes over the bottom half of the body – not too tight, but still showing off some of your curves in contrast to trying to hide them.

I’m interested to know what type of fruit you are and what clothing you wear to enhance and compliment your shape; I think it is one thing knowing your shape but another in finding the right pieces to wear – I guess it is a method of trial and error for most.
