Will you be feeling body conscious in skinny jeans this coming Spring, or will you be sporting the rising trend that is jeggings? Jeggings became hot news last Spring but for those that didn’t try them out, you will be pleased to know that they are still rising.
I know more than a handful of women, who tried to pluck up the confidence to wear ‘plus-size’ skinny jeans and never really felt all that comfortable – if you can relate to this then my suggestion is to try the jegging which is more complimenting on our curves than skinny jeans ever could be.
So what is the jegging? This is a style where leggings and jeans have been brought together as one; the fit is legging the fabric is a knit denim. Note – don’t pick up jeggings which take the elasticated waist band of a typical legging; this is not so desirable. The major advantage over your regular skinny jeans is the stretch factor which is around 25-30%.
I want to make a point with this post that the skinny jeans look is not voided from plus size women; don’t be so quick to follow fashion rules about what you can and can’t wear. At the end of the day, not everyone has the same idea of ‘beautiful’ and strict fashion rules don’t account for this fact. It is a misconception of many women to do everything they can to look skinny, and the media seem to support this; the key is to forget about ‘skinny’ and do what you feel comfortable with to look at your best – to look amazing whatever your body shape.
Jennifer Lopez is a good example here with her Latino figure – you wouldn’t see her trying to hide this or make a ‘boy skinny’ Jean work; no, she embraces her hourglass figure with pride.
