My lingered tight budget has denied me of a professional manicure for 12 months now; I really miss the blissful feeling that comes with pro manicure. During summer, yard chores are so much that you are sure of not having any nail polish linger for more than 6 minutes on those working hands. Oh, I have even forgotten about my nightly routine (petroleum jelly/cotton moisturizing treatment). But at least, I remembered to do that recently following a hard day of intense weeding.
When I’m not on budget, I love it when I visit a pricier day spa to have a spa manicure. You won’t blame me; I’ve had a horrible experience at regular nail shops – they attend to clients rather too fast. Well, it may work for you if you simply want to get your nail fixed. But for me, It’s not just the nail fixing.
I love it when manicure is done with pampering – groomed cuticles, short nails and the OPI polish topping… I love bubble bath and all the pampering that follows. Now that the holiday is here, it’s time to give myself a hot paraffin dip treat – it’s quite luxurious, and I like it a lot!
For several years now, I have always taken the loose-leaf notebook manicure reviews featuring top salons in popular beauty magazines. Then, I will get back and nod off into dreamland as I relax to explore the posh salons featured in the magazines. Most of them feature essential oils, and the exciting part is when you are offered some sandwiches as they pamper you with maximum attention.
I can never forget an ugly manicure experience I had in one of those regular nail shops. It was in the morning after an out-of-town meeting. The sign of snow was all over the atmosphere – the next thing I saw was that the supposed beautician plastered five polish coats within 3 minutes – in fact, less than that! Guess the outcome of this rush work – immediately she jostled me into the drying area. The polish fragmented. She was lucky that it was just one nail – well, she had to go all over it again.
I could almost hear her musing audibly, “You are the cause!” I paid her of course, but I knew I have wasted my money, and even more importantly – my time. I felt like tutoring her on her job, but I changed my mind; of course, I made my decision right there and then – it is either a Pro Manicure or no manicure at all!
