The Rise of Blue Jeans as the Fashion Mainstay

Each time I reach out for my preferred pairs of jeans from my closet. I tend to pause for a while to brood over how they come to an existence. Often, I will take note of their terrible look lately (terrible for wear), and it comes to my mind that replacement is needful. This is something a lot of us are getting ready to embark on recently, particularly with the compelling tone of the fashion magazines particularly on summer – showing us a long list of the seasonal must-haves.

As I thumb through this magazine’s pages – it amazed me how virtually all the pages were dedicated to jeans, how you can find something that fits you most, the hottest brands as well as tips on caring for these jeans. It amazed me that Jeans (humble origin pants) was accorded such importance. Up until this date, there’s no other clothing item that has turned to be such a universal wardrobe essential as a pair of jeans (particularly the blue one).

Accepted as one of the American culture’s top prominent symbols is the American Institution with European Origins Jeans. However, they emanated from Europe. They only got to United States during the Gold Rush – at this time, someone by the name Leob Strauss migrated to California to establish an arm of his brother’s fabric company in San Francisco. During the period in question, gold miners were placing the high demands for pants that would be best suited for the gold mining job and withstand wear and tear substantially.

This is how Leob opted to go into pants production, giving birth to a fashion mainstay. Afterwards, movie-like cowboy culture as well as Elvis and James Dean (popular idols) caused jeans to be cool, as well as the anti-establishment. In the 1960s and 1970s, hippies embraced this trend – which made it a solid status. By 90s, a wide range of brands and styles had already filled everywhere; you could practically find everything – designers, discount, tailored to rip, black, and of course our favorite blue jeans.

Single Life

Thanks to Darwin Barton

I’ve been single for a while now and it is so hard to meet someone in this town. I feel like I’ve already dated half of the losers here, and the other half of the men that I haven’t dated are married or in relationships. Sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with me, but I know it’s not that. I think I’ve just had a spate of bad luck. First, there was the guy who worked for ADT Security .

He had a good job and seemed responsible on the surface. Turns out he was married with three kids. I felt so stupid that I fell for his lines. Next, there was the firefighter. He seemed nice at first too. He had a great body and a gorgeous house. Come to find out after three weeks of dating that he is completely obsessed with his baseball league and could only see me once a month during baseball season. I’m hoping that my bad luck streak has ended and the next guy will be better. I don’t think I can take another man-child!
